Biography

A chance meeting at a London rehearsal studio led to the birth of Soulcyde. Natz and Toshi realised that they were both passionate about "real" music.

For Natz her love is performing live, she uses every opportunity to empower her audience, very much a girls girl, she believes that it is a "true gift to be a woman" her lyrics export the idea of fearlessness and independence without alienating her male followers who love her honest and unabashed appeal. Heavily influenced by raw emotion, she writes for Soulcyde.

Ask about her influences she will tell you Lenny Kravitz, for his hot looks and style, Bob Marley, for his writing genius, the Legend that is Chaka Khan for her delivery and Erykah Badu for her artistry.

When asked about her off stage antics, she cites falling 10ft out of an attic and setting her neighbours shed on fire as "stuff that just happens". On a calmer note she is a secret Scrabble don.

Toshi- Original native to Japan has always been driven by music. He fell in love with the guitar whilst at school in leafy Suffolk.

His influences include Bootsy Collins, Prince, Sly & Family Stone, Peter Tosh and Black Uhuru to name but a few. He spent time earning his musical stripes playing with Hip-Hop band Def Tex on a 4 year stint.

He confesses that he's a bit of a practical joker and enjoys winding people up. An outdoor fanatic he loves tree climbing, skating and camping. Loving the "magic" that is Soulcyde he lists rocking Tommy Hilfiger, Regent Street, London at "In the City-Show Case" as one of his favourite gigs along with raising £3,000 for Oxjam at the Playrooms in London.

BBC Radio London caught the magic that is Soulcyde live on air, where the switchboards were overwhelmed by avid callers. Once interviewed by a wowed Geoff Schumann he stated "Soulcyde are Britain's best kept secret". BBC Southern Counties Radio also experienced the exicitment that is Soulcyde this time the duo played live on the air as well as a later BBC unplugged studio session.

The two have a serious side as they are supporters of the charity Keep A Child Alive for whom they dedicated the proceeds from their record "Heaven Can Wait". The charity looks after children who are HIV/AIDS suffers. Natz says, "it is unbelievable to think that a generation of children have died,
we do what we can to help".
